You Are Not Alone In
Your Grief
Anyone who owns a pet is never prepared for the loss of their beloved friend. We care for our furry companions all of their life and we make sure they never want for anything. However, when the time comes that our pet’s life must come to an end -- whether illness or old age takes them from us, who do you talk to about it and will anyone understand the depth of your grief? Yes, some friends or family members or perhaps even your veterinarian office might offer some degree of comfort but this may be only temporary. Each day, countless pet parents everywhere lose their furry companions. The grieving cycle begins and the hurt, pain, emptiness, confusion, denial, sadness, guilt and every other emotion begins and pet parents feel a sense of abandonment. Some pet parents may initially grieve for a short time after the passing of their furry companion while others may take months and even years to experience the full range of their pain from missing their pet. Grief does not recognize time nor does grief care who you are. The connection you experienced with your pet will cause you to miss them terribly and the pain of missing them can wear on you physically, emotionally and psychologically. But in light of this, remember – you are not alone in your grief.
Furry Angels In Heaven is committed to providing pet loss grief and emotional support to every and all pet owners who lost their pets to illness, old age, accident or displacement who need to talk, share, cry and openly display their grief. You will be treated with respect, dignity, compassion and complete understanding because members of this group will be other pet parents who experienced their own loss and will want to guide others through the grief journey. We are dedicated to helping each other and being there for each other.
Gatherings will be held the first Friday of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The location will be posted 2 weeks prior to the next monthly meeting date. Pet parents will be encouraged to bring photos, poems written or any momentos of their pets which they are welcomed to share with the group. If you or anyone you know needs to talk to someone urgently in between monthly gatherings, feel free to contact Anna Cantu at the following e-mail address: anna@furryangelsinheaven.com or by phone at (512) 971-1321. Your e-mail will be responded to immediately and your call answered promptly. Because our fur babies pass on at all hours of the day and night, if you need to talk to someone, you are encouraged to call or e-mail because this group cares about you, your pet and the grief and sadness involved with your loss.
Furry Angels In Heaven is dedicated to ALL pet parents regardless of what type of pet they had. Pet parents from all walks of life are welcomed to join in our group - pet parents of dogs, cats, birds, horses, hamsters, monkeys, snakes, llamas, and all other animals are encouraged to join in our group because the love for our pets is timeless. Our pets play a very important part of our lives. They give us so much and we learn so much for them, yet, they ask for nothing in return. We live in a day and age where more individuals are welcoming pets into their lives and homes and their pets become their closest companions and dear friends so when their fur baby is gone, this loss creates a huge void in our lives.
Because Furry Angels In Heaven wants to always remember every pet parent’s companion, pet parents are encouraged to e-mail the name, date of birth (or adoption date) and passing date of their baby. This will be included on the website and will remain for others to see and reflect upon.
Group gatherings are open
to anyone coping with the loss of their pet.
Please note that group gatherings are supportive in nature and are not to be
considered group therapy.
